Shichida Graduate Luke Making a Difference
Luke's favourite animal is the orangutan. When he learned that they were endangered, he decided to do something about it. He used his free time before school and his lunch breaks to get signatures to send to Canberra. Thanks to his efforts, he is bringing attention to this very important problem of forest destruction that not only affects orangutans, but also will harm us humans.
At Shichida, we not only gave him strong fundamentals in numeracy, literacy, critical thinking and creativity, but also gave Luke an opportunity to develop a social conscious. Along his very hard-working and encouraging parents, Luke was allowed to discover his passion, but also given the skills to make a difference with his passion.

Luke's Mum also given us a recent update:
----------------------------
"Hi everyone
[...] Just thought I would provide you with a quick update- Luke is continuing to campaign for the orangutans. Last week he had a meeting with his local member, Julia Banks MP. Julia was very interested in speaking to Luke about what he has done, and how she could help. She ended up speaking with him for over 45 minutes! She used to work in the food industry, so gave Luke a few ideas of people that he could write to. (He has already written a few letters to the Prime Minister.) Julia said that she would try to get a photo of the orangutan that Luke had Jason Woods give to the Prime Minister on his behalf last year. Julia also promised Luke that she would make a speech on Luke's behalf in parliament later in the year.
So as you can see, Luke hasn't given up and is still fighting for the orangutans!"
